Obituary for Imogene Weatherall LaPrade (Skinner)

Imogene (Skinner) Weatherall LaPrade, age 91, of Grand Saline, Texas, passed away, Sunday, November 10, 2019, at Alderbrook Village Assisted Living in Arkansas City, Kansas.
She was born August 30, 1928, to Henry Lee Skinner and Oree (Whitt) Skinner in Van Zandt County, Texas. She attended Wentworth Elementary School in East Center and later graduated from Grand Saline High School in Grand Saline, Texas. Imogene was the first in her family to receive a high school diploma.
On November 30, 1945, she married the love of her life Raymond Lee Weatherall in Grand Saline. They lived in Amarillo and Dallas before making their home in Grand Saline. They owned and operated Ray’s Parts Service in Grand Saline from 1957 until their retirement in 1980. Imogene was preceded in death by her husband on November 1, 1983.
On October 9, 1987 she married Arlee LaPrade in Grand Saline. They made their home there for many years until he preceded her in death on January 3, 2009. She moved to Arkansas City, Kansas, in August of 2018.
Imogene was a member of the Fruitvale Church of Christ; she enjoyed traveling in her younger years, crocheting, playing card games, and listening to music.
Imogene is survived by three daughters; Teresa Lux and husband Sonny of Gilmer, Texas, Betty Crain and husband David of Grand Saline, Texas, and Iris Turner and husband Wes of Arkansas City, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Clinton Lux of Kingsland, Georgia, Jennifer Bethard and husband Chris of Gilmer, Texas, Benny Lux and wife Allison of Longview, Texas, Katy Dickens and husband Brett of Sedan, Kansas, Josh Crain and wife Emily of Chino, California, Laura Campbell and Kris Hotchkin of Arkansas City, Kansas, and Caleb Crain and wife Nadene of Arvada, Colorado; twelve great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elaine Rains of Amarillo, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond and Arlee, her parents, four brothers LeRoy Skinner, Dean Skinner, Benny Skinner, Phil Skinner and one sister, Adell Thompson.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Bartley Funeral Home in Grand Saline, Texas, with the family receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Private family interment will follow at the Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton, Texas.
The family has suggested memorials to the Alderbrook Assisted Living or the Alzheimer’s Association and those remembrances can be left in care of the Dickens Family Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
